What to bring and wear
Wear something comfortable for running in, and be prepared to get wet, muddy, and perhaps sweaty, depending on weather. If you take shortcuts through the bushes, be prepared to get some tugs in your clothes. Running shoes are fine for the feet.
Bring a water bottle.
If you have a compass, please bring it along. The simple $10 hiking / orienteering compasses of the sort sold by Canadian Tire (search for product number - just the number - 75-4014-6) are perhaps the best for beginners. We will have some compasses available for use.
During races, whistles are mandatory gear, to be used if you get lost or need assistance. You might as well start getting used to bringing one with your compass whenever you head out the door for orienteering, so if you have one, please being it along. Any cheapo plastic whistle will do, as long as it can make lots of noise!
Fees
- $8 per session, or $40 for all six;
- 50% of cost for basic members;
- Free if you're a full club member.
